On their way out of the camp, Owlpaw asked Oceanstar casually, "So, what has StarClan told you? You've already figured out how to get over this drought, right?" He beamed up at his mentor, his eyes sparkling with hope and expectation. The reason the young apprentice had been working so hard was because he really, truely believed that Oceanstar had everything under control and that SeaClan would be just fine.

Opalshine glanced over at Owlpaw nervously. She knew that it wasn't likely Oceanstar knew much of anything to help them, and she was worried that Oceanstar might say something to frighten the 'paw.

"Uhm, I have a plan Owlpaw, but Starclan hasn't confirmed that it's the right thing to do..."

"Oh..." Owlpaw replied with a frown, his eyes downcast. "Well, what's your plan?" Looking back up at his mentor and leader, he forced himself to smile again, trying to look on the bright side of things.

Duskshade scowled, her cranky attitude growing more sour. She dragged her paws over to Owlpaw and Oceanstar. "Is this a hunting patrol or a clan meeting?"

"Why have you been so grump lately, Duskshade? It's not putting the clan in a better position - we already have a drought."

Duskshade's tail tip flicked annoyed. "Clan leaders without plans aren't helping much either."

"At least I have an idea! You'll be helping the elders for a moon. Go. Now! Before I give you a worse task."

Owlpaw cowered back from the two fighting cats, tears glittering at the corners of his deep amber eyes. Noticing this, Opalshine trotted over, gently resting her tail over the apprentice's shoulders.

Turning to Oceanstar and Duskshade, she narrowed her eyes and growled fiercely. "You're acting like spoiled kits! Can't you see you're making Owlpaw, our only apprentice mind you both, very upset? Now, Oceanstar, you no it's silly to make her do nothing but treat the elders. For one, we need as many helping paws as we can get to hunt for the Clan, and second of all Owlpaw is doing a just fine job of that all on his own. Either we can put side these differences, and think of our Clan, or we can squabble and fight until we all die of starvation. If StarClan hasn't spoken, so be it. But I doubt they would want us all to die just because of a few fights."

Duskshade bit her tongue and turned away from them all, stalking off into the dry tropical forest in search of prey. 'I'll show them who should be caring for the elders.

"Let me help, Duskshade!" Owlpaw called out desperately. Inside he thanked Opalshine for trying to cheer him up, but all he really wanted to do was get this all off his mind. Pulling away from the others he bounded forward, quickly catching up to Duskshade.

Duskshade shrugged, her bad mood still burning. "Whatever Owlpaw, just don't make too much noise." She saw a tiny frog, almost the size of one her toes. She stalked after it slowly, lifting her tail off the ground so it wouldn't rub against the dry forest grass.
