Duskshade sighed inwardly. She honestly found border patrols very boring. But Owlpaw was just so excited about it. And it wasn't like she could say no anyways. "Ok, ok wait up Owlpaw!" Duskshade groaned and trotted over. "Remember who's the apprentice here. You're so bubbly it's making me tired." Duskshade followed the patrol out of camp. "Clear skies. That's nice." she commented.

Looking up, Opalshine smiled and said, Let's hope the weather stays like this and that we're not hit with a hurricane this season." She lead the patrol up to the border, and nodded to the other two, giving them permission to continue forward as she marked it. Owlpaw burst forward, tearing through a clump of ferns before slowing to sniff at the border. "Nothing over here!" He called out to the rest of the patrol.

Duskshade nodded. A hurricane would be devistating. Duskshade padded forward, opening her mouth to scent the air. No obvious threats. Owlpaw burst into the open and Duskshade jumped her hackles raising. She saw it was the apprentice and relaxed. "Do you mind?!?" she exclaimed. She felt like she almost had a heart attack.

Owlpaw turned at the sudden exclemation. "What are you talking about?" He asked innocently, not understanding what was bothering her.
[SHOOORRT]

[Very]
"Just don't sneak up on me, ok?" she mewed a little gentler. She remebered he was just an apprentice on his first border patrol. [Even shorter.]

Owlpaw turned his back to Duskshine and began marching along the border, his tail and head held high with a great air of importance. Opalshine drew up next to Duskshade, a purr rumbling in her throat. "Ah, to be young again. Those were the days, weren't they, Duskshade? So innocent and small.." She gazed somehwat dreamily up at the treetops as she spoke.

Duskshade shrugged. "I guess..."she implied. Duskshade scented the air every so often checking to make sure there was no threats.

Owlpaw continued along the border, crashing noisily through the thick undergrowth of the forest. Opalshine gave a small chuckle and charged after Owlpaw like it was a game. At times she could act much like a kit, and this was no exception. The end of the border drew near and they both slowed down to mark the remaining border markers.

Duskshade shook her head. Leave it up to them to act like kits. If their was intruders, or prey, they would be long gone by now. She trotted up ahead of them, pausing to catch her breath. "Anything unusual?" she questioned.

Owlpaw glanced guiltily at Opalshine. In the excitment of racing, he had forgotten to check to make sure the borders were clear. Luckily for them, Opalshine had been able to pay close attention to sights of smells as they ran. Shaking her head she replied, "No, nothing out of the ordinary, Duskshade. We're all clear to head back to camp."

Duskshade nodded. She hated to play bad cop but it happened to be manditory right now. She took the lead and started winding her way around trees to the Seaclan camp.

Owlpaw trudged along behind the warriors, still feeling guilty and embarrassed over acting like a little kit again. He really needed to get over this, or else he'd never become a warrior! Opalshine nudged him, and his head whipped up when he realized they were suddenly in the camp. That was another thing, too. He needed to stop spacing out so much, or else he'd miss the most obvious of things, like how quickly they were moving or when they were back at camp.

Once they were inside the camp, Duskshade broke away from the crowd and sat down in the shadows. It was noticably cooler there and she needed some time to think. Looking up at the clouds again she observed that there were still no clouds in the sky. It was odd and unsettling and Duskshade found herself wrapping her tail around her paws.

OceanStar started to follow the patrol as they seemed to go on without him. He took a quick drink and padded up until he was last in the patrol. owlpaw seemed to race up ahead, seeming as if he didn't want to hang around OceanStar. He sighed and continued on, checking the borders and marking them.
When they got back to camp, he threw a rabbit that he caught while on the patrol onto the fresh-kill pile and padded over to his den. He sighed softly and sat down. Sun-high was almost over, turning into sunset. It was always beautiful on the beach.

[eh? i thought Oceanstar was staying at camp O-o?]

[Blub? Lawl your my pet goldfish now, Broski]
Duskshade got up and walked over to the leader's den. She paused for a moment and the called out "Oceanstar?"Without invitation, she walked in because she felt this matter was important. "You can't say you havn't noticed the clouds wern't in the sky today." She took a breath and continued. "I think there could be a hurricane coming..."
[And bat, Oceanstar is everywhere. He's a ninja]

"A hurricane calls for many clouds, this may be a drought." he said with contempt. Something may be coming.

[ /Tries to steal your water ninja powers]
Duskshade scowled. "Not necessarily." Her tail tip flicked annoyed and she retreated from the den.

[NINJA?? .-.]
Opalshine sat in the clearing. For some odd reason there wasn't the usual gentle wind blowing from the ocean. Everything seemed to quiet, too still. Getting to her paws, she squinted out into the sunset. The sky around it wasn't it's usual blood red. Owlpaw was picking through the fresh kill pile when he, too, began to feel that something was wrong and pricked his ears as he gazed up at the sky.

"Actually, probably. You can see that the ocean has been receding farther back if you watch closely."

[NINJA!]
Duskshade sat down, fuming. There perfectly well could be a hurricane. Considering it was as dry as it was rain would come and it could come hard. She mentally scolded herself for contridicting her leader's words but she still had a feeling he could be wrong. Drought or hurricane it was going to be tough going.

Opalshine padded up to Duskshine and asked, "Could you please help me gather up some brambles and bracken, Duskshine? I would like to, ah, strengthen the dens real quick." Flicking her tail she added, "Owlpaw could help us." At the sound of his name, Owlpaw finished eating his small trout and bounded over. "Sure, I'll help!"
